    • I am definitely a West Village kind of girl but this little Japanese midtown cafe has kind of stolen my heart. Its such a great place to get some work done without many distractions. And its so freaking cute! I got their lemon ginger tea, because I dont do coffee. And i went out in Brooklyn, not my scene, and was ridiculously having conversations over music -- so my throat hurts lol and i keep coughing. That little green thing is a green tea japanese roll cake. Its comes in 2 more flavors. Stay tuned for an upcoming post about Hanamizuki cafe. These were really fun to see and get a whole tour around the city but just know that not every Cuban drives one of these. This is the only thing in Cuba that resembles the 1950s everything else is like the 1890s lol because they still use horse, ox, donkey and buggie. #prayforcuba #handinhand Now Cuba will have to rebuild because the flooding was absolutely real.     • The Almendares Park in Cuba so made me feel like a little fairy! I felt like i was in Fern Gully! That little yellow figure is me lol. This forrest makes absolutely amazing backdrops. Again, Cuba is rich in photoshoot spots lol. While i was there, people were actually sacrificing chickens on the river. Like cutting off their heads and stuff. I was wondering whiy there were do many feathers and flies around...i hate flies. But that explained it lol. I believe it is called Santeria, its an afro ciban ritual. From what was explained it is similar to voodoo, someone correct me if im wrong. I have lots of pictures of heads and bones and skulls lol but ill spare you.     • I swear the eyes get me Every. Single. Time. I took a tour around his tobacco farm, on an actual ox pulled cart...in the rain, where he also had other vegitation. There I was taught how to dry, pick, and roll the tobacco leaves. Such an intricate process lol...and tedious. God gave us all gifts and enduring tedious things was not mine lol. Something fascinating was that all tobacco farms have to give between 90 and 98 percent of their crop away to the government for it to profit!!!! This particular farm was only allowed to keep 2 percent. I was fascinated by the concept of putting in an extensive amount of work for someone else to profit and get rich...then i thought, lol, thats what you do in corporate america... WHAT. A. DRAG.     • My favorite part of Cuba had to be the buildings. It wasn't really about how they looked but more about the story behind why they look the way they do. Most of these buildings are dilapidated and by American standards would be condemned. These people live their best lives in buildings that could potentially harm them but they make it work and dont seem to be phased by missing stairs, rails, or holes in ceilings. The reason these buildings aren't taken care of is because the responsibility falls on the residents. Pero because fixing things costs money nothing really gets done. When you visit you might be tempted to take a photo with the "neatly lighted old industrial" feel and leave but i encourage you to take a minute and actually look around and absorb what life is like. That lighting comes from a hole in the ceiling.
